With the recent freezing temperatures, there is an increased risk of freeze damage to your irrigation if you chose not to winterize your system.
Above ground parts of your system are the most likely to break if the system was not drained before a hard freeze. Valves and the pipes that supply them are the most likely places to find a leak after a freeze. Your backflow preventer can also be very fragile during a freeze.
Above ground leaks are easier to detect because water will spray out like a geyser. Detecting an underground leak is more difficult. If your system was not properly winterized and a break occurs, a large wet area will form in the general area of the leak. If one of the lines breaks and your system was shut down properly, it may not be detected until you turn your system back on in the spring.
Should we find freeze damage, and you took advantage of our Winterization service, we will make those repairs at no cost to you.
